Did you know that Mother’s Day was started to promote peace? After seeing the physical and emotional effects the Civil War had not just on the soldiers but also on the widows and orphans, Julia Ward Howe* wrote, “Arise all women who have hearts…” in her Mother’s Day Proclamation.

Mother’s Day Proclamation

“Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether our baptism be that of water or of tears!

Say firmly: “We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.

We women of one country will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs. From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with our own. It says “Disarm, Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.”

Blood does not wipe our dishonor nor violence indicate possession. As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and
commemorate the dead.

Let them then solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, each bearing after their own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar, but of God.

In the name of womanhood and of humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women without limit of nationality may be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace.”

I love to hear your thoughts. Do you think things have changed much since Howe wrote this proclamation? A full one-half the world’s population is made up of woman. Should women take up the call to end war as a solution to conflict as Howe did in the mid-1800′s? Is it up to women, or is it possible for men to be included in this call to peace?

God said to me, “Join with Me to sow the seeds of love.” He also asked me to tell everyone, “God loves you.” I hate getting messages like this because as I said to God, “Everyone will think I am crazy.” God replied, “Everyone who speaks the truth is thought to be crazy.” That got me thinking…Is it any crazier to speak about love than to speak about war? Why is it that we can speak with impunity about war to resolve conflicts but the minute we shift to love, and its potential role in healing global conflict, everyone thinks we are crazy. What is crazy is that we have never found a better way than to resolve conflicts with wars. What is crazy is that we have never tried love. What would have happened if, during the 2-year preparation for war following 9/11, all the world’s citizens, with all of their compassion for the senseless devastation, directed their love not only to the victims but also to the responsible terrorists organizations? This doesn’t mean we condone their actions. What it does mean is that we recognize them as fellow human beings who are in need of a change of heart, and the only way to change one’s heart is through their heart. The energy of Love speaks to the heart. So call me crazy because I am suggesting that we try sending love, before sending our sons and daughters, whom we have carefully nurtured and loved, fed and fretted over, whose emotional joys and heartbreaks have become our own, to be slaughtered in battle. If that is crazy than I am glad to be counted amongst those rare individuals.

Maybe Rev. Martin Luther King was right when he said, “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Hate multiples hate, violence multiples violence, and toughness multiples toughness in a descending spiral of destruction. So when Jesus says “Love your enemies,” he is setting forth a profound and ultimately inescapable admonition. As Dr. King said, “The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.” We all have the power to change the world, one thought, one word, one action at a time, and that time is now. Dr. King said, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy to a friend.” I say we give it a try.

If you believe in Sowing Seeds of Love, then take the time to Sow Seeds of Love in your own backyard by sending the Declaration to your friends, family and politicians and asking them to vote YES for Love at the Global Peace Movement (GPM) Facebook page. To cast your vote simple click “like” under the Sowing Seeds of Love Declaration on the GPM Facebook page. Share the Sowing Seeds of Love link on your Facebook page and any other social media. If I hear from enough of you I will submit this to Change.org and ask that our message be delivered to all the world’s leaders.

Global Peace Movement - Sowing Seeds of Love Declaration

We the People of the World, in order to form a more perfect union with each other, insure tranquility and promote the general welfare of ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish that:

We will no longer allow our children to be killed, maimed or destroyed to resolve conflicts.

We want our leaders, elected, appointed or self-selected, to find a better way. We no longer find war an acceptable solution to conflict resolution.

We the people of the world dedicate ourselves to solving all the world’s conflicts with Love.

To begin:

We the People declare ourselves free of inner turmoil. We send ourselves love.

We the People declare ourselves free of hatred for one another. We send each other love.

We the people declare ourselves free from violent criminals. We send them love.

We the people declare ourselves free from terrorists. We send them love.

We the people send love to all those in need regardless of our own religious or non-religious affiliation.

Remember what Gandhi said, “The end is inherent in the means.” Only peaceful means will bring about a peaceful world.

To “be love” is to be a fully actualized or fully realized human. This is what Jesus was. He was a fully realized human. So when God tells me to be love He is telling me to be no less than Jesus was…a fully actualized being capable of reaching her full potential. I know I am capable of being love because I can feel that state while in meditation. The hard part is to carry it through one complete day. Jesus came here to show us how to be love in this world. He taught us by His example. He showed us how one who is love acts under even the worst of life’s circumstances. He loved unconditionally and he forgave even those who crucified him. There is no drug as powerful as forgiveness. Forgive yourself and forgive those who trespass against you. If Jesus told us we could do it too, then we must believe that we can. He came here to teach us this example. He showed us how to “be love” in this world.

I wanted to do my part to bring heaven to earth and I was waiting for God to assign me a to-do. Instead I got a to-be. He is saying that to bring heaven to earth we must be love. After that, we can send love to others, but that will happen naturally once I become love. Can you imagine all 7 billion of us being nothing but love? If each of us were to be love, we would have heaven on earth.

What would you do if you were nothing but love?

The “you” in this sentence refers to each and every one of us who would judge who God has chosen to do His work. Who He chooses is not always affiliated with a religious institution and is not always identifiable by a particular dress code. So don’t be surprised if God’s servant shows up dressed in rags or in Gucci. It could be either.

This crucial point in our evolution is no time for preconceived notions of what God is going to look or sound like when He arrives. The arrival you are waiting for is here and it is you. God is waiting to be recognized in each and every one of us. Who you judge God chooses is a powerful message because whom you judge is everyone, including yourself. The message is saying that God is choosing you.

You’ve all been there…on a plane with a crying child. This time the crying was piercing my noise cancellation headphones. I had a colicky son like that so I know what it’s like as the parent but until now, I don’t think I had as much compassion for the child. In early motherhood I was too consumed with my own unmet needs, primarily lack of sleep, to feel compassion for yet another crying spell. This time, with the benefit of 16 years between me and my child’s last colic episode, I felt differently. All I could feel was compassion for this child whom I couldn’t see but I could certainly hear.

I closed my eyes and became conscious of being love as God has asked me to do each time I inquired as to how I could be of service. Within moments the crying stopped. When I went back to reading and lost focus on “being love” the crying would start up and I’d go through the exercise again. Obviously I am not able to multitask “being love” and reading at the same time so I remained focused on the child. I never did get to finish reading my book on that flight but the child not only stopped crying, but started laughing. I don’t know why I thought it was going to be so hard to be love. Maybe I just haven’t encountered a really hard test yet. Maybe it’s because I haven’t come face to face with pure evil. I pray that if that test comes God will have sufficiently prepared me. Here’s a question: If enough of us can BECOME LOVE ALL OF THE TIME can we eliminate evil? I think we can and it is the premise behind my Global Peace Movement and the Meditation for World Peace. We have got nothing to loose by trying. Even if we reduce evil be fifty percent we’d be doing a great job. Nothing else has been that effective. The more of us who can embody love the greater the chances that we can witness primarily love and compassion amongst the world’s population. Let’s be as radical as Jesus was. Let’s dare to make a difference and let’s tip this world toward love.

Let me know what you think. Can we eliminate evil by becoming love ourselves? Can we change the world in our immediate sphere of influence by changing ourselves? Can the microcosm of change I witnessed on the airplane happen at the macro level? I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Much Love, Theresa

Reaching the level of unconditional love will involve some of your hardest lessons. The universe will put people in your life who are difficult to love. Then it will wait patiently as you struggle with your feelings; not that the universe wants you to struggle. It wants you to reach a level of consciousness whereby you can love unconditionally. The struggle is within you. It need not be a struggle if you can put aside judgment. It is not and never has been our job to judge others thereby deciding if they are ‘worthy’ of our love. If you believe in an All-Loving-Presence and the person you judge is good enough for God/the Universe to love than who are you to decide otherwise?

You may decide you don’t like one’s actions but must learn to separate the actions from the person, who is a child of God. Know you not that God may have asked this child to act as he/she does just so you may have the opportunity to learn to love unconditionally? Once you shift your perception in this regard you will find it easier to feel compassion and in feeling compassion you learn to love unconditionally. Once the lessons are learned you will find you are no longer confronted by ‘people who are hard to love.’ This is your gift from the universe. Once the lesson is truly learned you will not be ‘tested’ again at least on a personal level. The lesson however may be expanded to a community wide, national or global level.

Know that every situation you read or hear about, even if not in your immediate sphere, is a chance to learn, a chance to stop judging, to show compassion, forgiveness and love. Try it. Take a situation and try shifting your perception. Start with someone in your life who is difficult to love. Know they carry with them a lesson made-to-order by the universe. Begin by no longer judging them. Acknowledge them as one of your ‘teachers’ and thank them for taking on a role that may be particularly odious. You will know when you’ve accomplished this because you will begin to feel compassion and with compassion comes love and with these feelings fully entrenched, you reach a state of consciousness called unconditional love. This is a higher vibrational level that brings more inner peace and joy into your life. Even a life that is already filled with peace and joy may benefit. For lives already rooted in peace and joy, this practice will bring you to a more blissful state than the one you currently enjoy as there are always deeper levels of inner peace to be had.

The beauty of this process is that you have nothing to loose. If you try the process outlined above and it doesn’t work then you’ve lost nothing but time trying to be non-judgmental. On the other hand, if it works for you, you will have elevated your own state of consciousness and believe it or not, uplifted the life of the person whom you were judging.

Many blessings to you, to those you learn to love and to those who for now, may have sacrificed their own happiness to teach you.

In other words, if you don’t treat yourself with unconditional love than others cannot and will not treat you in an unconditionally loving manner. So “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you” starts with you doing unto you only loving things. It starts with you speaking to yourself with unconditional love if you want others to speak to you that way. It starts with you treating your body and your psyche with unconditional love if you want to be treated that way by others.

You can only be valued by others as much as you value yourself. So it is incumbent upon you to value yourself as God values you, which is the same as saying to love yourself as God loves you.

(The) emphasis is on value; value for yourself. So much emphasis in the finance world is placed on valuing an asset and you are to look at yourself in the same way. You are the asset and you don’t want to undervalue yourself. An asset that is worth unconditional love…that is your value.

I received a message a long time ago about the new currency being love, peace and joy. If you were to value yourself in the new currency, you would be worth unconditional love, unconditional peace and unconditional joy. That is how God values you and that is how others will value you when you value yourself that way. It starts with you. It actually starts with God, but He’s already done his piece, and He’s waiting for you to do yours. Your piece is just to recognize what He already knows; and when you do your piece, everything else falls into place.

So waste time not, in loving yourself. Let it begin now because the world needs you. The world doesn’t need you as half a person; it needs you as wholly loved by you. It’s like the friendship necklace…a heart on a string you give to your best friend and you retain the other half (you keep one half and your friend keeps one half). When you put them together, they fit like the pieces of a puzzle. So here’s the deal: It’s like God is one half of the friendship necklace and you are the other half except you can’t fit with His half until you recognize your divinity and love yourself unconditionally – that’s the key. That’s the key that enables you to fit your piece of the puzzle with His. And then it’s perfection. It’s like these two pieces come together in a beautiful, bright, divine white light and this light just shines out in every direction and makes you whole. That is what God is waiting for with each of us. He is waiting for us to recognize ourselves and to love ourselves unconditionally the way He does, so that our piece of the puzzle can fit with His, and this divine healing can be born.

Each of us holds the other half of that friendship necklace with God. He wants so badly for us each to recognize ourselves as lovable, as unconditionally lovable, and worth the value of unconditional love, unconditional peace and unconditional joy.

So, the question is, what will you do with your half of the necklace? You are the necklace. You are that half of the necklace. Your whole being – your body, your mind, and your spirit are half of the necklace, but to make it fit you have to love yourself the way God loves you. I don’t know how many other ways to say it. It is always the same message for everybody. It’s the same message for everybody in the world…for everybody on this planet. It’s always the same.

Just live that message and you won’t have to think about anything else. Just focus on that message and do it. Everything else will fall into place. There is nothing else to do. There are no other questions to answer.

At this point in the healing session Mother Theresa appeared because she loved the world so much. She loved even the most unlovable of God’s children…at least in the eyes of the world. She was here to show the world that they are not unlovable. She, like Jesus, came to show unconditional love. She says, Dear child, you are not the least of God’s children. You have been blessed so many times over. Take those blessings and spin them into the gold that is you. God’s love knows no boundaries. He is with you always. He resides inside of you. He resides through you, and he resides outside of you. You cannot be separated from his love.

Note: I received the above message from Spirit on 12/3/11 while channeling grace to a client. The session was recorded so I was able to capture the words Spirit spoke to
my client as I worked. Those words are in italics. Also during the session God
gave me images and feelings that, although it was difficult for me to speak, I had to translate into language. In my experiences, language always falls short of describing the experiences of the Divine, but I do my best and those segments are not in italics. The reference to finance was most likely made because my client was working in the financial field. I share this with you with the permission of my client because I feel the message is relevant to us all.
